I have always enjoyed cooking – probably because my mother did such a lot of it for all of us and she was a good cook.  In a world of take-aways, fast food outlets and pre-packaged tv dinners, it seems to be a case of the bland leading the bland. Yes, there are many good restaurants but who can afford to eat at those establishements on a regular basis? And, to be honest, I have found some restaurant meals to be disappointing because I have had better at home.

My wife and I enjoy fine foods and old-fashioned home cooked meals. It is much less expensive to prepare a meal at home than it is to eat out. You know what ingredients have gone into it, you know how fresh they are and you know exactly how it has been prepared. You know the state of your kitchen and you know that it is rodent and cockaroach-free. It’s not easy to verify all of these things at a restaurant.

The aim of this site is to present recipes that cover a wide range of foods, cooking styles, and degrees of difficulty in preparation. Many people grow up only knowing a limited cuisine. but there is much to be gained by exposure to other dishes. In our own case, we find that we occasionally use a “fusion” of styles when preparing meals. This means much more variation in the meals – certainly, a far cry from the “meat and three veg” which many people grew up with.

I hope that, through this site, you will come to enjoy cooking and preparing healthy and delicious meals. I aim to pass on tips I have gained over the years that may make meals a little easier or quicker to prepare.

I welcome your feedback. If you have questions or would like to see particular ingredients used in a dish, feel free to email me and I’ll see what I can to to meet your request.
